youd probably be better off going for a high end gaming card with lots of ram. That way it should perform ok in maya and be perfect for games. Probably cheaper than a proper 3d/CAD card aswell.

there is a kinda grid texture on the speaker but its not showing up to well. There is a bump map, i might increase the depth a bit.

you might wanna check out the alien tetxuring tutorial at digital tutors. I think your alien funny has lots of character.
