Originally posted by matt4068 ... whats ur current cpu? ... I currently have an AthlonXP running at 2.8, more than enough for me at the moment. The bottom line is this, I'm in dire need to reinstall windows, my hdd is about to fail and windows is completley 'on its arse'. My 1 gig of ram has now become 512 since one stick was damaged and is worthless, and finally my GPU is ok but im am seeing some lag in games such as GTA:SA. I would love to be able to crank up the settings play at really decent resolution. The windows reinstall needs to be asap, and as such it seems such a waste of time to rebuild it, then buy some more parts (key to this point - motherboard) in a few months then rebuild it all over again. I just thought that getting decent stuff now would keep my going for 12-18 months. Are the upcoming new technologies completly radical and provide so much upgrade that its worth working with a 'hunk a junk' for 6+ months? p.s. I would much rather upgrade sooner and have control over backing up my C drive, rather than have the drive fail on me in 2 months time losing all my data. For me the change has to be soon, even tho the new tech is just around the corner. pps - agreed, cool typo :bandit:
