Thanks folks,

here's the first render of the girl with the balloon. I've attached the balloon to her hand using a parent constraint which is disabled when the balloon is switched to free float mode.

The pose is just a quick one so it's not great!

I've sorted out blendshapes for raising the cheeks and have put controllers on the GUI. Both the girl and the balloon are scalable now, I had to resort to MEL for the balloon and surprised myself when my simple script worked!!

I've been thinking about the story while I've been making this character and am now ready to start writing it after which I'll rough out a storyboard. I'll probably make a start on the other main character and tweak this one as I'm writing and drawing so 3D updates won't stop.
