At the end of the day I was looking for a laptop, the Macbook pro was less spec (by quite a long way in the graphics) and more cash compared to the equivilent PC, I got a Dell XPS M1710 in the end.

I also worked with apples and didnt really get along with the OS and found them to be quite a bit crashey (could have just been the ones I used) when compared to a PC, and a lot of the softwares I use for my PHD are PC only, I know I could have ran windows under bootcamp but that would have cost me £££ for the OS and kinda defeated the object of getting a MAC.

When I worked for apple they used to quote 10% share, might be the uk market though
