selection problems

After I touched a wrong key I think it screwed up my selection process. That is, when I have something selected, it doesnt matter where my mouse pointer is, it will move the selection - whereas normally the selection area only moves when I click on the selection box. Does anybody know how to set this option to default? Its pissing me the hell off.

But actually what helped me was exiting out of the program and restarting. *shrugs* Thanks for your help!
