Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

"Those Eyyyyeeees! OH MY GOD... THOSE EYES!!!" ;)

Okay, I'm so not ready to animate this but I have a question anyway re: how to animate beady little round eyes. This is what I had in mind but I want to do it in Maya. Victor Navone is doing this with his main character in his next short. This link...

...is to a movie of his character using expressions and morph targets to animate the eyes? How could this be done in Maya? Thanks in advance.

Looks like Blend Shapes should work.

Okay, not that "hard to do" is a bad thing but are blend shapes very hard to set up? Any suggestions on where to find tutorials on this?

Hello! user added image

I'm reposting this because I still haven't gotten the help I need and you all are the kindest people when it comes to your time and help. Does anyone know how to create beady eyes like the ones found at this link? https://www.hash.com/users/navone/Me...ntHeadTest3.mov
I need to know for my project. I'm stuck on the eyes and I want some like these for my character. I know it's blend shapes but how do you shape each pose? Might there be a script? Or do you push, pull and otherwise mangle each small sphere til it looks like you want? Thanks in advance for your time and help. user added image

p.s. Please pardon any misspellings or muck-ups. It's 6:30 in the a.m. and I'm running late for work. LOL!

We have a few blend shape videos here. You pretty much create the eye, duplicate it a bunch and modify the duplicates to create the different "poses". Select all the duplicates, shift-select the original, Deform > Create Blend Shape. Then just use the sliders found under Window > Animation Editors > Blend Shape to animate them.

Thanks Michael. I'll see if I can get that going today. Where can I find those tutorials on blend shapes that you mentioned and what are they called? Thank you so much, Michael, for your gracious help! user added image

For such an effect; you may be just as satisfied using curves to deform the brows and maybe by painting cluster weights for the eyelids.

Using deformers for animating takes some practice. But in any case it may help you out some bit in creating decent blend shapes for your model
