Is there a way to completely turn off shading in Maya?

I want to get a cartoon look, with no shading at all. Basically, I want it so that when I render a white sphere it looks exactly like a simple circle drawn in photoshop. Is there a simple way to do this, like just turning off shading somehow?

If you have Maya 5 you can Vector render, overwise you may want to search Hightend3d.com for a shader that simulates the cartoon effect.

Yeah, but no but yeah but no....
