Introduction to Maya - Modeling Fundamentals Vol 1
This course will look at the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. We'll look at what makes a good model in Maya and why objects are modeled in the way they are.

Games character

Hey all.

This is a low poly games character that I created for a Uni project. Hope you all like him! I tried to make the textures more of my own, rather than going for the classic 'games look' that you always get.

:p

I'd also be interested in knowing how many polies it is.

Obviously, you're going for a cartoony style, so I'll keep that in mind.

The biggest thing that jumps out to me is his lack of eye lids. His eyes are fully wide open, and I think eye lids would add a lot of character and allow for better facial expressions.

The pants texture could use a little more details... wrinkles and the like.

Keep it up.

We had a limit of 2200 vertices to model our character with, rather than polys. This charcter is 1169 verts, I'll have to check the actual poly count.

I know what you mean about the eyelids - I have no idea why I didn't do a better job of that!? Oh well, never mind. I was trying to make the texture on the trousers look better with some wrinkles, but it wasn't turning out right. I need a bit more practice.

Thanks for all your nice comments though. I'll keep trying!

When in doubt......smile!
