Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

Help, I want to create the illusion of speed with smoke or fog

Hello all my MAYAN friends!!!

I have a quick question....I would like to create the illusion of a jet, moving at a high velocity, through clouds or smoke. I would like the clouds to pour over the sides of the jet. Think of it as a spaceship re-entering the atmospere if that makes sense. It should almost blur the clouds as they pour ove the sides.

Any suggestions would be MORE than helpful!!!!

And thank you in advance!!!!

I would use particle clouds, and create a surface emitter on the side of your screen, keep the jet and camera relatively stationary and shoot the particles past the jet. Maybe set up a collision object to make the particles sweep around the jet. I did something like that once. Not exactly the look I think you're going for, but you get the point.
