Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

Ear Help

Hi Guys! user added image

I'll make this short as I have to pick up the wife from work. Will some one PLEASE help me figure out how to attach an ear tp a head? I'm racking my brains here and every time I try to attach. I end up with what looks like a major VERY VISABLE crease where the ear attaches to the head. I will be forever in your debt if you can help me. Thanks in advance! user added image

well, assuming polygons are being used, as long as the vertices of the two attached objects are merged together and the geometry matches, and the two object's normals are in the same direction, you should be able to use Soften/Harden Edges to get rid of the visible seam.

Wow! :)

Mr. McKinley, once again, dear boy, you have made miracles happen. I just start calling you Rod Tidwell (Cuba Gooding, Jr.'s character from "Jerry Maguire" - he always used to say he can make miracles happen!). I reversed all of my normals and started attaching verts and voila!, it all worked out. Here's my so far finished guy. What do you think? And yes, his ears are supposed to be THAT big. He kinda felt inadequate so he went and got himself some of those ear implants. Now, he may just be overcompensating just a little. user added image Thanks a-plenty for your help, as always! Dude, how can I ever repay you?!
