Ive created a low poly female figure using a refrence images that ive found on the net . the head was created using the poly head tutorial in simply maya ....
what do u think so far ?
Theres a few polys flying aboout that cud be cleaned up. If ur going to put the long hair on like in the reference then u can get away with making the ear 'hole' into tidy geometry too. Look for making the lines flow with muscle movement. it'll make it easy to move, low poly or not. The shape and proportions look excellent, which, so i'm told over and over again, is the key to modelling.
im not gonna give myself poly limite because its a low poly dummy . im gonna use her for learning texture and animations
for low poly characters so as long that its not sub d/nurbs or polys after mesh it will be good enough for me
?!?! So if its not going to be sub-d's nurbs or polys, what is it going to be? magic? And generally when people say something is low-poly, that means it has a LOW number of POLYs. So its necessary to have a poly limit at which u clarify which is too much.
If your going to use her for animation u mite be a bit screwed as well. Theres too many tri's (3-sided polys/faces/bits with edges around them) and they can act a little bizaare when it comes too strecthing and bending. Real fustrating, especially around joints, where u have quite a few.
