Ugly Seams

I did up this head, half at first, then duplicated it, combined the 2 sides, and merges the edges. Why is there still a horrible looking seam going down the centre of his head? user added image

You might have normals in different directions. Normally when you scale in the -1 direction and than combine with a +1 scaled object, the normals are flipped.

Got it working. I just merged all the vertices.
