Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

2D Fluid controlling 3D Fluid

Hello,

I looked at this tutorial video and they say that via mel expressions you can control a 3D fluid with a 2D fluid.

Does anyone know the expressions to make this possible. I've only got the first part of this tutorial.

Many thanks,

Alex,
That's interesting. I've never heard anything like that before.

I know for a fact that fluids can not collide with other fluids from other containers. I'm curious to know what that video tutorial is actually talking about. Maybe we'll have to put our pennies together and buy the tutorial.

Hello shandaman,

You said you own the dvd. Is it possible to make something a little clearer about the expression used... and so "raise a little tip of the misty curtain".
What do they put in the second (3D) container and how ? (heat, density, fuel,...)

Sending a scene file , with the used method , would be a dream...

Many thanks and greetings,

al

I down own that DVD but...I imagine that its an expression similar to the one used in the visor paper burn example. I made a 3d version of that, but I'm working out one or two kinks....

Basically, all you do is in the expression you're getting the temperature attribute and putting the numbers in whatever attributes are in your 3d container.

I also want to note that in the paper burn example they are not using fluidVoxelInfo either...
