Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character
well my computer sucks and cant handel maya in any way. I´m looking for a new one but not shure what to buy.
I kinda want to convert to apple but i´m afraid that i´ll have problems using it because its a completly new system.
If not apple then probebly dell but wat kind of dell I dont know.
Wat do u all recommend?
P.S. im not very good with computers in general. (dont use to big words)
don't be afraid to go to Apple. I'm a big Apple fan, and I think that the differences are overstated.
If you go to Apple you will be amazed how quickly you feel right at home.
Me for example, I had never used a computer at all before 2005.
From a standing start in 1 year I have learnt tons, I'm not sure that would have been the case on a Windows platform.
I'd probably go with a BOXX as well if you're not concerned with the price... Otherwise I'd put one together myself, you just have to make sure that it has plenty of RAM

Thanks for the tips, im not shure if boxx is within my prise range, actually appel isnt realy cheap either.
I´ll probably end up with a Dell because I can get it for a great prise from a man I know.
U say I need plenty af RAM, is 1 gb enough or shuld I go for 2 gb?
2gb ram is what i have and it performs, i think, 4 times better then 1 gb (increases exponetially) but i'm not sure.
If you really plan on using super hi poly stuff, then take the 2 gb.
Yeah, I've got 2gigs too and everything runs pretty smoothly, but it also depends on what you're planning to do, but 2gigs will get you through most things in my experience...

i actually got a Dell custom, think the total cost was like 2G's and its a monster machine and runs maya perfectly. but yea be prepared to spend probably at least 1500 for a smooth ride
if it supports open gl, then its fine. I made the mistake of buying an ATI XSTACY 256 mb card... and it doesn't support OPENGL, only DirectX, so Maya crashes... alot.
