Light Decay Help

Hello, I'm new to this site and was wondering if somebody could help me with a question. I am trying to use light decay on point lights. However when I set the decay to linear the illumination seems to completely disappear. I expected the light to gradually decay. I also tried using the manipulator tool to change the decay range but I still see no illumination. If anybody knows how to fix this it would be much appreciated.

When you increase the decay, you'll need to increase the intensity quite a lot, like to 10 or so, depending on how far the light is from the object.
