Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

Reversing edge direction while appending to polygon

I'm trying to fill the area between the two red lines in the picture. What you are looking at is the end of two polygonal shapes that are combined together. The main problem for me at this point is getting the directions of the inner tube to be the opposite of what it is for the outer tube. Also I have a problem getting the append to polygon function to place things as I want them.

So two questions:
1. How do I get the arrows on the edge of the inner tube to be the opposite direction of those on the outer tube?
2. Is there any way to prevent Maya from adding its own vertices (they are almost always in the wrong place, although that might be me not entirely understanding them 8)

Any help on the matter would be wonderful.

In the begining God created a whole lot of rigid bodies, and set some motion paths. He also set the lighting.

y dont u just extrude the edges of the inner 1 an merge the verts with the outer one

Now at SMU doing BSc 3D Computer Animation so its hard to get on here

Because that doesn't give a satifactory result either.
Seems that I need to flip the direction of the edge for the inner tube to make this work also. 8/

I ended up reversing all the normals, something I should probably have done from the start. It worked out quite nice.
