uh, i have a question....

in GTA SA, it doesn't look like cars are that high-poly. 75,000 is about the car budget for a regular next-gen racing game, and as far as I know SA inst capable. but i may be wrong..

it does look good so far though!

yup u are wrong. ihave 200k cars in my game. in fact i have 40 different cars running on my game right now most are bout 50k but i have a few real nice 200 k and 100 k cars and it runs real nice. Yea the cars that were made for the game were bout 20-30k but if u have a nice comp, u can handle way more

that link is a 350z with 250k polys

Anyways, thanks for the comment, Cheers

Heres my first attempted at softening edges. This is killing me lol cause im so used to really smooth meshed and not using a smooth on a car is rough. Theres still bumps on the fender but if u spot more bumps, point them out.

The thing is that most games uses (sometimes automated) polygon reduction, so when you're far away, it doesn't need to draw 200k polys, maybe 1k is enough. Otherwise say you have 6 cars in the view and have to draw 6x200k, that's more than most computers can handle (and unnecessary)
