Your welcome..it does work because I sat here for two hours to work out the code, coded it and tested it .

btw I forgot to mention that these textures will NOT show up in the viewport but only when rendered.

emmm sorry to be picky but I think you're going overboard here... and then some. Why not just make the box lids separate objects and move their pivots to the edge of the box lid. Then duplicate them and call the news "L_inside_lid" and "R_inside_lid" then turn off double sided for all the lid pieces so that everything points the way it should (you may not need to turn off double sided so experiment). then you can UV map the lid pieces separately... parent the inside ones to the outside ones and there you go....
