Hi, it's Tammy again. I made a tutorial about making hair from curves, and eventually converting it to polygons. If anyone wants to see it, its here in the downloadable .zip file.
For all people who are game artists, I have a suggestion for you when you are done with the tutorial:
In Maya, select the completed hair, and in the polygons menu set, choose Mesh --> Reduce until the hair is low-poly enough for your game. You can check the poly count by clicking Display --> Heads up display --> Poly count, and selecting the hair.
