collision objects

is there a way that anyone knows of to set up a game type collision object in maya, i dont mean for a game but in the sense that another object cant pass through it like a car on a
road for example(which is what i want to do)...

i don need an answer to desperately but the quicker the better im going to be using this (if there is a way) for my portfolio entry wip
