Is there a way to generate textures?

Hi, i'm back again. Here's my question.

First of all, I have a model of a character I made in Maya Unlimited 8.0. Is there a way to generate a colored texture or colored UVmap (in bitmap format) from the materials and/or shaders that I have applied to the model?

If so, could someone show me how, please?

Note: I have already tried the Transfer maps menu item under Lighting and Shading in the Rendering menu set. If using the transfer maps tool is the only way, could someone show me how to use it, please?

Thank You in advance,
-Tammy

Hi I believe if you go to the Hypershade and select your shader then under the edit menu select convert to file Texture should do the trick.
