Snapping to Grid Lines

How do I get vertices to snap to grid lines, but not to grid points?

Thanks,

Ok, I will give this a shot. I find it best to do this in either top, front or side view. Select vertices you need to move. hit the move tool with mouse than instead of click moving on a particular axis of the move tool, go to the center of the move tool hit X and left click and drag to snap to grid. I hope this makes sense!
