Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world

Alpha maps

ok its like two in the mornin and im at work high on coffee im trying to get my alpha map to work knowing maya its a tiny setting that i just havent switched on/off but heres my image i and i need to make this sticker be transparent in 6hours(the h20 sticker) gone through a tonne of video tutorials but i still cant get it to render the transparency...........sorry if i seem abit rude it must be the coffee:headbang:

Well. The simplest answer would be to save out your color map as a targa, and then save the alpha out as another targa. Then just load them in with two separate file nodes.

PSD node's are memory hungry, and I've found they can cause problems during rendering.

does this help? i made it awhile ago to help someone else... i think there is a better way of doing it but this works too.

if there was any reason to dump win7 x86 its this i redid(rendered in maya 64) it in win64bit and my alpha maps started working properly user added image
