Hi all ok at first i was really annoyed that i needed to purchase a new mobo to run sandy bridge. I was seriously thinking about getting the 1100T amd processors...........
Thats until i saw how much their mainstream-estimated 200 dollar processor trounced the 1090T.
Its sad that we will have to wait till 2nd half of 2011 for our 8/16 processor and im thinking it will be at 980x prices but who cares............16 threads wooooohooooo
I really think amd will be in trouble with bulldozer unless they sell them at 200-300 dollars but i read somewhere that they tend to sell their cpu at 50 dollars per core
Anyway four weeks to go cant wait to start adding more nodes to the render farm
new quad core processors code named sandy bridge from intel great processors from the look of the benches i wonder how much their six cores and eight cores will cost
intel call it second generation but really its like the fourth i finally got one today and my goodness maya feels so fluid especially when maya performes single threaded tasks .............. i HIGHLY recommend this processors especially the "K" series you will not regret it especially if you are coming from an lga 775 socket but some of my colleagues are waiting for amd to release their processors (might be 3-6 months) but hey if you have patience
Darn... ah well, I wasn't really thinking of upgrading yet anway.
By the way, you have a beautiful country. I was in Nairobi for a short while over New Years.
