Hi, i am trying to render z-depth but the render came out with all objects looking white, no other values. This is how i did it, i put all objects in a new render layer, right-click to attributes and select luminance depth from the presets tap and i am rendering it with mental ray.
Break the connections in the Out Color > Old Min and Old Max values (these are calculated automatically), and put in custom values. The distance of the closest point to the camera would be the min, and the distance to the end of the furthest object would be the max.
You can find distance to camera in the Heads up Display > Object Details.
