Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

ummm, what you see in the viewport isn't going to be what renders.

your blinn probably has a high reflectivity setting and so its reflecting your environment like a mirror.

I am confused as the render output implies you are using v-ray but you said you are using mentalray?

Yes I switched to V-ray by mistake then back over to mR, but they problem like I tried to explain is that when I render the scene out it looks slighlty pixelated but not sure if I have it on a different setting for it to appear like that???

press the 7-key and turn on viewport2 or hi-res rendering to get a better idea of how the environment lights are interacting with your materials. A ground plane would help if you are using final gather. I would tend to agree that you have the reflectivity set to high and the light intensity of the environment lights to high.
