Introduction to Maya - Modeling Fundamentals Vol 1
This course will look at the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. We'll look at what makes a good model in Maya and why objects are modeled in the way they are.

What you have looks pretty good! The only thing that sticks out to me are the toes. To extrude them out its easier to have them farther apart but they should be closer together. The unsmoothed geometry might overlap a little.

Any chance you could post up a wireframe? It'd be interesting to see how you did the edgeflow to create the different muscle groups!

Oops forgot to mention.... still need to do the feet, arms hands and head, just consentrating on rounding out the forms in the legs and going to try add a little more detail in the back and stomach area.

I will post up some wires frames later. hopefully get the feet done tonight after work user added image

@ jay lol, just want to explore the different muscle groups so figured I would go all out literaly

here is few wireframe shots, also adjusted a few points here and there also extended the lower leg as everything looked a little cramped.

He he he this guy looks like he should be on some battlefield swinging a battleax around! Or in a fist fight with the hulk! Its looking good.

I like the muscle detail and how it looks nice and clean. How exactly did you build the individual muscles into the thighs?

The muscle detail was done with the good old extrude tool, then scaled to shape, a few edges were deleted and replaced using split polygon tool to change the flow and making sure I was rounding out in the process. Alot of tweking still have a long way to go with this, gonna do the lower arm and hand tonight hopefully, then I will have the task of tackling the head(Not my strong point ). also I think for rigging purposes I have tried to maintain quads, I think I will follow your path and try to texture and rig this character for animation.

made a little more progress tried to give the face a neanderthal type look without going over the top, planning on maybe trying my hand at zbrush to refine the body mass. also managed to stick to quads user added image

Not bad. The geo is a bit messy but not unworkable. And depending on the style you're going for I would increase the size of the head, especially if you're going for the hulk-look. Though the head is Ok at current size if you're going for the big-dummy look. You can just picture him scratching his head... if he could reach it with size of his muscles. It kinda reminds me of world bench press champions... they're muscles are that massive they walk around in an almost permanent T-pose.

yer suppose his head is a little small,I wanted it to be small in comparison to his body but having a break and looking again I agree, think I will try to refine the detail in zbrush

Well, in ZB you can quickly play around with several proportional changes using transpose, you'll find something you like really quickly.

It will be fun to see what you come up with.
