Complex UV Layout in Maya
Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

Hand Grenade

Pretty sure this is my first post in this section user added image

Spent about 20 minutes modeling this, after seeing KartoonHead's video. It's not any particular model of grenade, just a generally grenadey looking thing.

Did the renders in KeyShot, though the program doesn't seem to like me anymore, and proper rendering doesn't work, so these are just screenshots from the realtime rendering after it's sat for about an hour for each

And yeh, I did a beer grenade for fun, and to see if KS's liquid materials were any good. Which I think they are.

EDIT: I didn't bother saving the scene file, but here's an FBX if anyone wants to mess with it.

I think if I actually put a few more seconds into it I could make the beer grenade look better... May try it. user added image

EDIT: Duplicated the body of the grenade and shrunk the duplicate to fit reasonably inside the original, applied the beer shader to the duplicate, and a light frosted glass one to the outside

Looks like a men's cologne product shot, all you need now is the box sitting next to it user added image

Hahaha, may do so. Depends on how bored I am later on

EDIT: Decided to do it, just waiting for the realtime render to start looking decent :p

EDIT2: Here it is, I'm rubbish with texturing, not creative at all, so it isn't great, but oh well

I had another go at the texture, pretty boring day today... But totally happy with it, and it's obscenities now.

Realtime render is running for the final shots, will give each one 30 minutes or so, don't want to leave it too long this time. But here's a preview.

Haha, glad someone likes it. Wasn't sure it'd go over well user added image

Got the final images done. May have a friend render 'em at proper res and proper settings, but for now, these are final.

I put a light in the bottom of the box because the realtime light scattering just wasn't working through the plastic texture

Also didn't realize how massive an amount 16 fl oz was until afterwards, so uh... It's a good value?
