Smooth Shader Problem

Hello, I've recently created a nose and when i merge two vertexes with each other the smooth shader disappears and what is left is the wiremode.. how come?

Maya sometimes has these funny bugs. Try reapplying the default lambert1 shader. Or you might have to retry the operation or even rebuild that area.

I did apply lambert as a material but it didnt work so I tried the blinn and it did work.. will this be any problem futher in or will blinn just work fine? thanks btw alot!

The blinn will be fine. If you reapply the lambert1 after the blinn, does it disappear again, or is it fine.
