merge vertices which are very close, overall operation

Is there a way I can select all the vertices, and then merge the ones which are close? So far I have been merging them 2 at a time with the merge vertices tool and it takes ages

Yes, you can use edit mesh > merge, and change the tolerance, either before in the options box, or after in the channel box.

You can moved any number of verts to another vert by selecting the verts you want to move with the move tool selected hold down the "V" button then hold the curser over the vert you want to move to and press the MMB then do as Stwert said............dave
