Thin edge in model?

Hi,


I am modeling a human model in maya but i stuck with with a problem with an edge showing thinn hard line.

I have tried soften edge tool but its showing the same when i render the model vertexs are attached and its all a single edge too. I can't find the solution please help.

check your normals. go to lighting and turn off two sided lighting. flipped normals will be black. If you have attached surfaces with flipped normals that is non-manifold geo and maya will be mad at you.

You are right it was surface normals problem.

select the faces from where it starts to **** up and go normals -> reverse normals
