Introduction to Maya - Rendering in Arnold
This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

First your duplicate special looks to have the correct settings. You might want to try deleting history on the part and try again when you get odd results like that. Also, when in doubt reset the tool and then make your settings.

But unless you wanted to make an instance copy of the object using duplicate special is really kind of overkill.

What would have been simpler is to mirror and weld the seam as Dave suggests or I like to use the marking menus and do this...

1. select the object
2. shift-rmb
3. select mirror->mirror +x (in your case)

Or you could simply...

1. press ctrl-d to duplicate the object
2. set the scale of the dup to -1 in the channel box
3. normals>reverse
4. mesh>combine
5. then select and merge the verts

Which if you get used to using the marking menus is faster then messing around with duplicate special. options I tend to use duplicate special when I want to make an instance copy, or I want to duplicate the input nodes, or I want to make multiple copies and not for simple duplicate and scale -1 operations.

I could solve my problem in both ways you told me. You made me happy user added image
Maya is new for me. Is it normal, that the polys go wild if I zoom out? They are kind of flickery.

Flickering polys sounds like you have duplicate geometry in the exact same position. Check you haven't accidentally extruded the whole mesh with zero transformation or duplicated it.

Cus u put the scale nodes to 0, causing your model to be 0 on the height (Y), and the front (Z), since you only have -1 in the X that makes it only a line. Put the Y and Z to 1, and -1 on the X node, that will keep the same scale of your model but symetric because of -X.

hope it helped

I have deleted a face of the body and there was a hole, so I think there is nothing doubly.
But I still don't know why it looks so strange.
