Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

Modeling for Games

Hi Everybody, It will be great if we can make a Thread on modeling for games (I dont know if theres one already) so everybody can post what there being doing. That way we can all learn a bit more, Right? Cause I think hi poly and low poly modeling are two different things and they both require there own set of skills, correct me if I'm wrong.

I see a lot of threads on hi poly modeling but a few low poly ones and c'mon who doesn't like video games.

So, I will encourage everybody to post what your being doing for games from Models to Textures, whatever related to the topic so that way people that are new to game modeling or to the game industry like me can learn a bit more user added image

This is what I have being doing so far any suggestions are more than welcome and remember if you post do not hit the 3 key user added image. user added image

I think your best bet for gamming models is to go on the games web sites and see what examples they have there...............dave

Not sure there would be much of a demand, the only game modelers I know of here are myself and Joopson, and I don't model much anymore, so that basically leaves Joopson

I am starting to build low poly models, learning the Unreal Engine, but most of my stuff is high poly right now.

Didn't know you did any modeling for games lol

Why 3000? That's a damn low number, by any recent standards.

EDIT: Bullet, as I posted that, I remembered that you are working on some sort of game thing user added image

Acid44- I'm thinking mobile game. 3000 helps me to look for ways to save polygons and besides I have seen a lot of models around that count that look spectacular. So I will try it.

Ah, makes sense then. Always good to aim low, but if it were for a modernish PC/current gen console, I'd say bump it up by about 27000 polys user added image

Yeah from 25 to 30,000 its a good count for consoles. I want to start low and get the most out the mesh and maybe then I'll bump it up a bit if I need to. For know I'm just learning and I have a LOOONG way to go. Remember to post something if you want to so we can discuss about it I think thats one of the best ways to learn user added image
