Extruding

Here, I am able to extrude the edge without a problem.

Same goes for here.

Now, when I extrude both, I get this. I've even moved the vertices and edges individually to see if they are overlapping with anything. How can I fix that?

Try clicking the little blue circle, like a Q, to extrude in global space, versus local.
