Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

Winona - V Ray practice

Been ploughing away at learning V-Ray the last few weeks and I think I am getting the hang of it.

Built the pulse pistol from Farscape "Winona" and these images are straight out of Maya no editing - Just learning how to render them out in layers and I have some tweaks needed on the LED`s, but I am quite happy with the results so far.

what stuff did you learn? GI? basic vray shader? You should do the shaders on your robocop project. It might be interesting to compare what you come up with in vray versus mental ray.

Mostly the basics of VRay. Shadders, multi layered shadders, different types of lights, rendering settings, gi, dome lighting with HDRI and how to render out the passes in VRay.

As I said just a simple quick project but the plan is to take what i now know for the doom project and my zoids one. But yer using it also for the robocop one is also a good idea.
