Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world

findAndReplace.mel script - need advice

I put it in the scripts folder.
When I run the script I get:
//Error: line 1: Cannot find procedure "findAndReplace.mel".
It looks like it was written/updated in 2007 for Maya 8.
Is it too old to work?
I compared the text with a script that works, but my knowledge of MEL wouldn't take up much space on the head of a pin.
Any advice would be appreciated.
