Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

Extrude maya 2016 bug ?

Hi guys,

This is a new issue that i haven't seen before.
When i extrude a face it keeps the faces together, iv'e tried switching between "keep faces together" and it just creates some other problems.
What i want is to extrude and use scale (r) or move (w) action to control my extrude.

ok so hopefully this pictures will help to explain what im saying

picture 1, just a simple extrude
picture 2, press (w) and move and the faces are together

Do you have any idea why this is happening, i have tried to reset most of my controls maybe there are
some that i haven't tried ?

That is working as intended. The extrude operation doesn't affect surrounded faces, it creates additional faces to support ones being manipulated, the move tool does not. "Keep faces together" is relevant when extruding more than one face so it can affect the selected faces as one piece or as separate individual pieces.
