Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world

manipulator is gone
When i extrude face or edge the manipulator never shows up.
When i click show manipulator tool in the toolbox nothing happens... The move, scale and rotate manipulator is still there but not the manipulator for extrude face/edge
got any tips??
