Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

Lattice is not working

For some reason, when I put a Lattice on something, and try to deform it, its' not doing any changes to the lattice user added image user added image

any suggestions?

Ok, nevermind, I guess Lattices do not work on Cones...user added image

gotta make sure you have the geometry available to deform.

Have you got enough geometry in your object? but above all is your history turned on?

well I just made a simply poly cone, turned in 90 in X and then I put a lattice to it...

I have to check for the history but it should be on...

I tried it with NURBS and it didnt work either

Okay, Just Done your deformation to a cone using a lattice. No problem even with a cone that has 2 divisions in its height. I think you are pulling outer control points that have no effect on an object with very little subdivisions. And why would you want to do it on a nurbs cone anyway? You have plenty of smoothness control on that anyway. Try your test on a cube and get back to us......

do lattices work with whole objects? never tried that before

hmmm... well I was about to go and take a screen capture video of what i was doing and all of the sudden it worked... user added image hehehe... ah... Dont you love Maya?? user added image
