bouncing rocket, help plz

hi,
I'm working on the rocket tutorial from chapter 2 in Maya 4.5 savvy.

You have to make a groundplane and rocket, then animate the rocket with some keyframes in cartoonstile (squashing/stretching before it takes off), after that you make both objects passive rigid body and add gravity field to the rocket.
Now it's supposed to bounce when it hits the ground, but mine doesn't do that nicely. Also, there's a difference in the rocket's movement when I slide the timeslider or when I just hit play.

Anyone know what might cause this?

I'll add my file:

That is weird. It bounces when i slide the time slider. Try changing some of the dynamics a little bit.

Change the magnitude of the gravity feild to 15. Then it will work.

The difference might occur because of your playback speed. In the lower right-hand corner of Maya are two small buttons. The upper one will bring up the playback speed. You can choose from different frame rates or "play every frame."

Here's the punch line. "Play every frame" basically does what it says - it plays every frame. With every frame being calculated, your dynamic (and particle) effects will all be executed properly. If you play at 24 frames per second, Maya has less time to calculate the effects, therefor you get different and irregular results.

So, whenever you're dealing with dynamics or particle effects, it is very wise to set the playback speed at "play every frame" so you can adjust everything accordingly to accomplish the desired effect.

thx drknow, it's working now. in the book they said to change some other numbers, so I overlooked that one.

darkware, it's already on 'play every frame'. now with the gravity set to 15, they just bounce in different directions. I guess it's not that bad, as long as the movie works.
