Pentium vs. Pentium and nVidia x Fire GL

Hello!!

I was wondering how much better is a Xeon over a P4 to use with maya? I mean, if u were to buy a 2.5GHz Xeon or a P4 3.06GHz w/ hyperthreading, which one would you go for?

How about video cards: nVidia ou Fire GL???

Thanx a lot!

Daniel

I would go for the Xeon, purly cos is way cheaper that the Pentiums. Also, because of the way it runs, the AMD's 2.5GHz is more like the P4's 3.06GHz, or even better. I dont know the total diffrence between the two though.

Oh, and i prefer nVidia.

Yeah, but no but yeah but no....

Xeon cheaper than Pentiums?
I was under the idea that it was the other way round.

hmmm... i think there are some misunderstandings here....
Xeon is Pentium (nothing to do with AMD!!), and its is way more expensive than the Pentium 4!! that's why I made this question... is it really worth to spend more on Pentium Xeon? Or I will be equally satisfied with the top of the line Pentium 4 3.06 GHz??

Xeon is no Pentium.
Xeon is an Intel Processor just like Pentiums.

i would spend as much money as possible on a good graphics card than a good processor.
i reckon the gfx card is more important cos if ur viewport is slow as hell then ud get put off modelling and 3ding etc
