Everyone talks about how much cheaper PC's are that Mac so I thought I do a quick price comparison:

1.8ghz (64 bit capable)

SuperDrive (Cuts DVD and CDs)
GeForce FX5200 (Not sure about performance here)

Addmittedly the Dell includes a 17" bog standard monitor, but the prices are pretty much the same if you take the price of the monitor off. So what's all this about Mac being so pricey?
From benchmark tests (not Apple's) the 1.6ghz G5 is supposed to be as fast as a 3ghz Xeon so in this scenario the 1.8ghz G5 should be quicker.
It is also 64-bit capable for when OSX 10.3 arrives and Maya Unlimited is released for the Mac in 64-bit form
(O.K. so I am speculating).All in all I cannot really see much difference, only if you build your own PC would this scenario be different (but how much cheaper?) But then you have the hassle of building the machine and having no warranty - BIG PAIN - in my opinion unless you know what you are doing.
