Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

The sofa, the laptop, the keyboard, and maybe some books. user added image
And then you need to scale everything correctly user added image

Looking nice so far mate!

Tnx Grey

Yeah my room goes quite slow forward, but every time I get to it some more detail are added.

Well, I have huge problemes with scale in maya.

GF: You forgot the armchair also.

Does anyone have any tutorial to build a sofa (GF said it would be easier in nurbs, but I want to do the whole scene in polys)?

I don't know about a tut but if you work toward a basic lookin shape with polys then apply a smooth, thats how I do all my modeling.

with your furniture thats boxy, bevel the edges, It reacts heaps good with shadow lights.

give us a yell if I don't make any sence bro user added image

whats your lighting system & renderer? looks fantastic.

Xian: yes I know some of the furnitures have to hard edges, just haven't get around to bevel it up yet user added image

I have tried smoothing the sofa, but I'm not happy with the look. Ok maybe today I will post some pics of the sofa, so you guys can come with suggestions.

For lighting I used GI Joe.

NitroLiq: Of course it's a TV stand from IKEA user added image

Update
- moved the hi-fi to the tv-stand

New objects
- added the armchair (not to happy with the looks though)

Well, I'm off to a new project for a while. But should I keep going on this scene guys?

Maybe my next scene will be a kitchen and if I also do the bathroom, the apartment will be quite complete. Whooaa that would be sweet to do some camera movement in that big scene. But first thing first.

Here's the final modeling part of My Room (no texture will appear for quite some while)

Looking good Silver. I agree with xian on the points above. If you are using meshsmooth, remember to add detail at the outlines of objects for them to retain shape. Also the bed does not look too comfortable, add some softness to it. I'd like to see this textured and lit.
