Complex UV Layout in Maya
Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

polygonal riddle for you guys.....

Create>PolyPrimitives>Plane with NO subdivisions. (to make it easy for you)

Now make anequalateral triangle. Can you do it? Here's how you check to see if you're right: Choose Create>Measure Tools>Distance Tool. Snap to curve (hold down c and drag along edge of object) one locator of the distance tool to one point of the triangle and curve snap the other locator of the distance tool to another point on the triangle. If the distance between those two points is the same for all sides of the triangle, you've done it.

*waits for someone to reply*

Bah, just create a 3-sided cylinder and delete all of the faces except the top cap. Much easier. user added image

I used to have a lot of little riddles to do in Maya, but I seem to have forgotten them all. user added image There are many simple things that seem to be impossible to achieve, but usually have very simplistic answers.

I think this would be a good idea to keep going.
I also like the idea of every one posting what there favorite tool, or secret weapon is.

heh... ok, so make me a circle using nothing but straight lines connected end to end. No, not an octagon, or hexagon, not even a centagon... Has to be a perfect circle. user added image

Dave, is that a trick question? A circle made up of anything other than dimensionless vertices is not a circle.

That'll do donkey... that'll do...

Dave is being sarcastic Huxley. lol. You can't make a circle out of lines, therefor making a perfect circle in Maya is impossible, yet he's asking everyone to do it knowing full-well that it can't be done. user added image

Well, that's a relief! I was scared that he might come back and prove it was somehow possible... at which point I would have fallen off my seat and passed into a mathematically induced coma. user added image
