Maya and Lightwave

I am a current LW user and I am thinking of making the jump to Maya. Anything that will melt my brain in doing so?

I went from LW to maya within the last few days actually. Ive found maya to be easier in every possible way. I cant actually find something significant maya isnt better at.

*cough* light sucks compared to maya. But that was just me. I could only make very milited objects in it... thinga seemed to just mess up all on their own.

i ported from lightwave to maya myself. i learned some lightwave in my last semester of school, but after school i found it to be super confusing and i didn't feel like there was as much support from the community. i feel like maya has a bigger community, thus there are more resources out there for people learning maya. at first i thought maya was everything that lightwave could ever want to be, and i still think that maya is superior in good many ways, but now that i kinda know what i'm doing more, and am comfortable with the knowledge behind tools (not just "this button does that") i think i could do everything that i do in maya in lightwave. it's all personal preference. i'm sticking with maya though =)

maybe this thread is a dead horse...in that case, i will stop beating it.

Well... lightwave did have some convinient features that MAya doesnt, like the knife tool i specifically miss. But there are a few things here and there. But maya is overall easier.

and May-ya have a good time here (excuse that shocking pun but I couldn't stop myself user added image ).

I've done stuff in 3DS MAX before and I must say that by comparison I find Maya's view manipulation is very natural and the tools are easier to find.
