How and what do I do whit UVs

Hi I'm new here, but I'm not so new whit maya. I know all the basicks and a little bit more, but I like modeling so much that until now the texturing hasn't crossed my mind. So how do I texture something using UV's and stuff?
Thanks for advance.

Its not easy to answer that question in a single post. The best advice I can give is look for tutorials about uv layout.
Its a complex subject that takes a while to get right..

Sorry I cant help more than thst.. There is a uv tutorial on this site or Google for more
