i've a mesh i want to mirror - I've aligned the vertices precisely along the origin. but when i mirror it's slightly off. any idea what's happening?

Is the pivot point of the original object on the center line?

Select the object, switch to the move tool (w), hit insert, hold v, move the point to one of the vertices along the center line.

Also could try freezing the transformations (modify>freeze transforms)

Other than that I have no idea.

i've cracked it now - there was a negative x transform on it (-1.6..) I swear i've deleted the history loads of times before now. anyway, freezing the transforms did the trick user added image
