Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

New to Everything...

Hi, I'm a complete newbie when it comes to maya or 3D modeling in general, So any help on simply getting started right from the beginning would be good. I'm using Maya 4.5 Complete on Mac OS X, also does anyone know if i can get a fluid effects plugin for this version, and if so where?

Thanks

Sullmore

Hiya sullmore!

For starters I can say that one can model stuff in several ways.

Sometimes by creating surfaces via curves, or by manipulating existing objects/surfaces. There are a number of primitives in maya that is quite handy for modeling, you create say a polygon cube, and then you tweak the vertices/points to desired positions.

The nurbs cube is annoying I think but handy sometimes.

There is so much to say that I hope you simply state your questions whenever you feel like it.
