Please Please Help

I have just installed Maya 4.5 and I have the following problems:

1) No errors appear during installation, and the installation guide completes without problem, but when I go to open Maya it says something to the effect of "mayares.dll file corrupt". Where can I find a non-corrupt file? I reinstall to fix the error but I get the same problem.

2) When I go to "Install License" I know that it should pop up a window, but it doesn't. I see a very brief flash of a window prompt and thats it! I can't install my license...

Oh please, someone help me. I'm hopelessy stuck.
