US tried to switch to metric back in the 70s, I believe, but it didn't go well.

Thanks Mike, I wondered about that. I am not sure I care for the implications though. *shrugs*

What do I know? I only work here.

It's funny your should say that about metric... In the UK although we went metric in the early 70s and I was there (user added image ) people in the UK still use feet and inches and pounds and ounces - even the youngsters.

More importantly a pint is stilll a PINT! Anyone who went into a pub and asked for a litre or a half litre would be viewed as foreign (or weird user added image).

So cousin don't feel too left out in the cold. I'm off home now 18 miles (not kilometres) away to get me laughing gear around a nice few pints down the rubber dub dub! I hope I won't feel too moby in the morning and the missus don't get the neville... user added image

Tickety boo and ta ta for a bit...

For the people who live in Canada this will make total sense.

Canada uses Metric but I must admit that majority of the time I use the imperial measurements.

E.g.

When driving I use Metric (km) speed (km)
For Temperature I use Celsius
Buying hardware for home I use Feet, inches
Height, use imperial again feet.
Weight once again imperial, lbs

I can go on and on. I can't speak for all Canadians but Majority will do what I do. At least in Toronto they do. Even when crime stoppers are describing a theft or murder they use imperial system to describe the dude.

Speed heres in Miles per hour, temp is farenhiet, hardware all that is feet/inches
High feet and inches, although i used to know my hight in cm.
Weight is lbs.

The only time i use metric is when i physically build something, because the conversions are easier to do on the fly.
